Good morning from a milder but slightly cloudy Pembrokeshire. Apologies for my absence last week. I will explain more below. If anyone else would like to join in with this weekly hop around crafty blog posts, then click HERE. My craft box making continues at our Tuesday Papercraft group. Next week I will be decorating it with papers and adding the handles etc. There will also be a matching album to make. Very satisfying to be working on one project for a few weeks.
(There is a drawer unit on top of the plinth, and then an opening box on top of that, which can be taken out.)
The reason for my absence last week (and why there has been no other crafting) is that I have been helping with the search for a missing dog from one of our local towns. She was spooked and ran on Saturday 16th April (with some ‘helpful’ people chasing her to try and catch her; she is a very nervous rescue dog – and she ran across a very busy road, getting knocked by one car, but thankfully a police motorcyclist from Cardiff was visiting family and stopped the traffic). I joined in with the the search on the following Saturday, 23rd April – and it then took up a lot of my time and energy, until amazingly she was found on Monday afternoon – 16 days on the run. She has lost weight and was dirty, but absolutely fine otherwise.
We also went away to the Fully Charged Live event at Farnborough from Thursday to Sunday (an event for electric vehicles and clean energy/heating). We stay in a posh hotel right next to the venue, so can just walk in each day – and it is our annual treat to ourselves. Lots of lovely cars/bikes etc to look at, and very interesting panel discussions.
I had been missing having a dog to walk and then The Cinnamon Trust advertised for another volunteer in our area to help with a little dog living in a village only 3 miles away from us. I registered with the Trust and went to meet Poppy the dog and her owners (an elderly couple who can no longer take her out for walks) yesterday. Our first walk is on Friday. The couple knew my hubby’s grandparents and other relatives no longer with us, so we had a good chat, which is a vital part of volunteering. If anyone could spare some time to help with pets belonging to elderly people/those with terminal illnesses – dog walking, short and long term fostering, transporting – then go and register HERE.
Until next time.
So glad Maisie was found Ali. Great idea to volunteer to dog walk for those who are unable. Glad you enjoyed your EV event too. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #6
Oh well done for both the search for the dog and also volunteering to walk the other, kind thing to do! You deserved that trip away to the convention, sounds interesting. Your project is going to be fab when you’ve finished!

I am so glad the dog was found. It is such a worry when dogs go missing. Well done for helping out and offering to walk Poppy. Glad you are able to walk about, I do miss it. Happy WOYWW. Angela #14
Great news that the dog was found and hope you enjoy your dog walking career! ! Happy WOYWW Helen #1
I am so pleased that the dog was found. When I was a little girl I saw a dog run over and it’s stuck with me forever, I never want to see it again which is why I never let my dogs off the lead and it scares me when I see dogs walking along the road with their owners and no lead. People do not understand dogs but think they do. Well done you for offering to walk Poppy. We meet a lady in our park who started with one dog and now walks several, it’s so kind. Have a lovely creative woyww, Angela x11x
I’m so glad the dog was found eventually. She was a very lucky dog to be no worse than dirty and hungry. It could have been so much worse. Sounds like you’ve had an eventful week but the stay at such a nice hotel sounds wonderful. Have a lovely time walking Poppy – being a volunteer sounds a great way of helping dog owners who are no longer able to get out with their beloved pet. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #9
So glad the dog was found safe and sound, enjoy walking dogs and thank you for doing such a kind thing
Take care and stay safe,
